Hi everyone
I have joined the forum to get info about plumbing tasks I am working on and on re-training to be a plumber. I know these are bad times but I want to retrain and the alternative is to do nothing. My career in management has developed over the last 30 years but is now on hold and I really do not want to go back to it anyway. As I see it now, at worst I am investing in some skills that will help with odd jobbing and working on my own and friends/relatives properties for the next 10 years, at best I might make just enough to survive.

I have heard that many of our Polish friends (and I mean that sincerely) are returning because of the UK economy and weakness of the pound and I am sure that the building trades will pick up. If so then I suspect that people will once again find it hard to find someone local who will do the small jobs. At 54 years old you might say I am being a bit optimistic but I have lots of energy, love learning and doing practical things. I am also doing plastering and tiling courses which I know less about but hope will be useful.

Any advice gratefully recieved.

welcome drmartins, i do wish you the best of luck, have a look around some of the "training" threads

very best of luck mate
