i get my share of plumbing problems looking after a 1980 house on and off, however i am an optimist by nature.

Right now, there is a 3 port valve in my central heating system, with an old Mexico boiler: the boiler just keeps on going and going year after year. the only issue is that the central heat also comes on if i schedule hot water via the scheduler (programmer) because i can feel the heat, however only 1 light shows on the scheduler . when i ask for heating, the hot water also comes on, as far as i know and the scheduler shows 2 lights.

I would appreciated any input you can give me on that 3 port valve... i have no manual nor do i know what if anything i can do to test or options i might have. when i ask for hot water, i dont want any heat coming on, except maybe heat in the bathroom only which is a design feature i guess

am mystified, but not too worried. i can live with this, except in the summer maybe. And if i turn off the heat altogether on the scheduler, yet i still feel heat being generated when the hot water is scheduled. of course if i turn off everything in the scheduler, no heat or hot water is generated. however i can then turn the boiler's own electric switch, however it is manually set and no heating comes on.
