my friend has just told me about a btsc training course for plumbing. he has recently been laid off and i am def looking for a new career. had thought about plumbing in the past but didnt feel like it was an option. too old etc etc(i am 30 now). would like to know what job prospects are like, not just in blighty but abroad also. how much do these 'fasttrack' courses cost and are they worth it? also, what can a plumber expect to earn say after 1-3 years, then 5 years, 10 years etc. would this course be all i need to become fully qualified. what is the average working day and hours like. i am pretty flexible.

it s a long road .i m at it 5 years .10 hr days . half day saturday.non stop since i started.i spent 5months at school then 2 months again at school and still have another 2 months to do in march, with exams all the way practical and theory. i could nt dare call myself a plumber..u will never know enough .i am 29 so started late enough aswell.the fact that your older is a hhuge bonus, you will b more keen to learn than most.u really need to enjoy plumbing because its a constant learning cycle.u learn to do a thing and then it changes.there is so much to know its scary.other trades seem to b less complicated evn electrics.when your a plumber your a bit of a carpenter, plasterer, blocklayer, electrician etc etc etc .it really ties in all the trades .u should nt expect to b earning big money for a few years.to go doing competent work on your own u need alot of experience like. they dont have any courses like yours in ireland so i dont know how good they are. look, im not tryin to put u off at all. if your sure its what u want its a great trade. buffy😕😕😕🙂🙂🙂

Hi there. I am from the IT industry, i did the fast track course last year and enjoyed it in London, cost a arm and a leg to do it, with hindsight and a bit ticked off as for the similiar price i could have done the same course with NVQ not just the 6129 and also Solar installer, EAL Part P and extra with PPL in the mid lands..
I am also struggling to get work with a company to get some experience, with just the C&G 6129. (Renewable engineer training course - PPL Training)

you will struggle to gain work with a company as 6129 is worth nothing to us on its own.
plus we have enough choice to pick from people who are qualified and 20 yrs experience.
keep trying.
