I found this forum some time ago now when I was looking into the various choices of plumbing course to enroll on. It was a big decision for me to make as it meant a complete change of career for me. Anyway I made the decision and I have now recently completed and gained my Level 2 Technical Certificate after doing a fast track course at BTSC. I now hope to continue and do the Level 3 at my local college in Havering which starts in September and will be much cheaper! In the meantime I am looking for the opportunity to work with an experienced plumber and gain more valuable knowledge whilst also adding to and improving the skills I have acquired so far. The 2012 Olympic site is only 15 miles away from me so I am also looking into the possibilities there as well for the chance to be involved in such a big project.

I thought the whole point was to get English workers from the local areas involved? That's what Boris said on the news anyway!

Any advice on getting my foot on the ladder would be much appreciated, I'm in the usual vicious circle of needing experience to get a job but not getting a job due to lack of experience.

I'm 33 and have had a change of career so I am dedicated and focused now on doing this trade and it hopefully paying my mortgage!
