I've got a lovely what I believe to be faulty honeywell 3 port valve. worked fine last year I:E ch and hw could come on separately. Problem is now ch only comes on with hw, and as soon as tank stat has reached temp, no heating to rads. checked voltage on room stat all ok. When ch and hw off lever on valve stiff to move and then returns to auto. when ch and hw on lever moves freely and does not return. Is it just the motor, actuator or complete valve which is faulty? I'm fairly ok with diy and a multimiter. Help greatly appreciated. Greg

valve knackered ............REPLACE the syncron but if the valve spindle is stiff to move the whole cabossh

Thanks. I've had the cover off of the valve. How does the motor come away from the body? Also what is the little pcb behind the motor for? will that need replacing too. also how do I test if the the spindle is stiff? Sorry for the many questions, and thank you for your speedy reply. Greg

Thanks. I've had the cover off of the valve. How does the motor come away from the body?(2 SCREWS,under the silver cover) Also what is the little pcb behind the motor for?(DEMAND/CONTROL OF TOGGLE POSITION) will that need replacing too.(ALL COMES IN NEW HEAD) also how do I test if the the spindle is stiff?(WITH THE HEAD OFF,TRY TURNING THE SPINDLE WITH A PLIERS IF IT MOVES EASY ITS OK,IF ITS STIFF LEAKING,YOU NEED A NEW ASSEMBLY) Sorry for the many questions, and thank you for your speedy reply. Greg(NO PROBS GREG,THATS WHY WE ARE HERE) but make sure the mains are off first, use that multimeter

Can I not just replace the motor? or do I need to buy a whole new head? Thanks Greg

you can just replace the motor, but as gas man said test the valve first because if that is gone there won't be much point just changing the motor. The new valve comes with the head as a package.

If the valve is shot, which I have yet to determine. Do I go for another Honeywell, or am I ok with a Saulus which apparently has the same wiring, but is half the price? thanks one and all again. Greg

salus not very good quality were as Honeywell is the best, your choice really but i would want it to be reliable
