Hello All

Having house renovation done, inc loft conversion. Was going to put tank and boiler in first floor cupboard. Builder says can get megaflow type tank to put in eves of loft, and could also put boiler in eve space too. Builder says will save valuable space.
I think there wont be enough space for 250litre tank, builder says get horizontal tank

Your thoughts would be most appreciated

Betty

Yes it can be suitible if you have the correct flow rate and pressure from your mains.

advice would be not have the builder do the plumbing and source your own plumber/gas engineer. They will also have to hold the G3 qualifications for invented cylinder installations

Before you even start to think about unvented (Megaflo-type) system, check that the incoming cold water main supply is adequate in terms of both pressure and flow rate.

A horizontal unvented cylinder is possible, but will be a custom made item, and more expensive than standard.

You might also give some thought to maintenance and servicing - both boiler and cylinder require servicing, and at some point may require parts replacing etc. If you tuck them away in tight spaces this can be a problem.

And if you have a leak, - might take years but eventually with age boiler, tank or valves etc will leak, then it will damage 1 or 2 floors. Think what is directly below that area also.
