I have a ideal classic rs40 boiler which no longer responds to heating commands. the boiler fires up no problem for hot water, but nothing happens when central heating is requested. the honeywell control panel seems to be ok, and i have changed the wall mounted thermostat as a precaution. I am guessing its the boiler control thermostat box which is at fault, but my knowledge is pretty basic. would appreciate any advice, thanks dean.

This boiler is probably on its last legs I think I fitted my last one of
these when I was in my twenties, I am 40 now!....showing my
age....lol, it cant be doing your carbon footprint any good either
probably in the lowest band of the sedbuk ratings, well if its
boiler related very unlikely your get the spares, but you say
that you get hot water, wait a minute RS40 has the four pipes
off the top, I cant remember, Gravity hot I think and pumped
heating..........In a nut shell new boiler....lol

do you have a 2 port or 3 port valve set up i would look at the valve this could be the problem
thanks for the info, looks like a two valve set up, maybe its time to invest in a new boiler it must be 20years old, had my use out of it, and it has been pretty reliable,, are these combi boilers any good,?? heard mixed reports about them,, thanks dean.
