Hello my baxi 80e combi boiler is giving me problems.
When the boiler is cold ie not been used for say 1 hour and i try to get hot water the boiler will not fire up however when i put the heating on for say 1 minute and a temperature registers on the display the hot water will work. I have tried the switch with a screwdriver and this fires up the boiler. Any ideas as to why the hot water won't fire up the boiler when the system is cold.

i have tried both switches and both have continuity through them when open. When the tap is opened for hot water they both click but still no hot water when the boiler is cold

Thats what I was trying to find out, pdnufc, on first post you say, when you activate a switch with screwdriver the boiler works
Then on next post you say they both click, which I persume means they are activating when hot water turned on
so once again
what switch do you operate with a screwdriver to get the boiler to work on hot water mode,is it the one on the front left hand side or the one on the top right hand side
The most common reason would be the diaghram on its way out in water section,it has nothing to do with boiler havibg to heat up ,that just a by pruduct of the heating needs to be on the help the valve open a bit, soon the hot water will stop al together,if that is the case not a big job just normal maintanace
But if it was the pump flow switch not working with out a little help from heating, could be a flow restriction/blockage problem around plate heat exchanger
