Hello,

I have a question that is essentially how best do I join a washer waste onto an existing horizontal waste? I have attached a drawing which hopefully shows better than I can explain!?

The location is a garage where the washer and tumble dryer will be relocated to. The existing horizontal pipe comes from the bathroom and goes to what was the outside grate (on the left). My thinking is that the piece indicated by the * needs to force the waste water to flow towards the left and hence a normal tee can't be used. Thus does it need to be a swept tee or a 45 degree tee and another 45 degree bend? For example: Floplast tee-5 or Floplast branch-1 (from the website).

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Is there a particular reason why it would be better to run a new dedicated waste? Reason being what I didn't say is that there are already about 5 pipes going into this grate, plus heating pipes running parallel to the horizontal waste I'm questioning, so adding a new pipe could be problematic!?

Many thanks,

Ian

First assuming existing waste is from Bath & basin or basin & shower it's already at full capacity and probably pushing the boundaries of needing to upgraded in size.
Add a washing machine and you risk water backing up into lowest outlet in bathroom. Plus you will undoubtedly get gurgling noise from waste in bathroom.
Have a look at building regulations approved H for guidance.
