50e

Hello all,

My UP2/ LP722 duel channel programmer suddenly tripped the circuit breaker yesterday and went blank. I reset it and the timer display came back on ok, but now the boiler is not kicking in when heating is selected on the programmer. It works fine when the hot water setting in selected though. No wiring has been altered recently and its a Potterton Profile 50e boiler if that helps.

Has anyone come across this before or have an idea what it could be?

Many thanks

It will be a problem with the heating controls i.e. programer it self, room thermostat or more likely the zone valve.

Unless you understand how these are all wired & work you will need to call in someone who does to test it all out and replace the broken part.

Thanks for the reply Chris. The zone valve is a 3 way Honeywell one - do you think if it was sticking it could cause this fault and is this repairable without having to get a new one fitted? Would a faulty actuator motor/ gear cause the circuit to trip?

I don't know 50e and I am sorry if this sounds flippant but I am good but I haven't got a crystal ball so without being there to test the system I stand by my fist post.
Sorry.

BTW welcome to the forum

Ok... so I have moved the Honeywell valve over to the right on the catch and this is heating the radiators now - even though just the hot water switch is on. I guess this is a good short term solution.

Forgive my ignorance, but does this method cost more to keep the house warm than when I was able to heat the radiators seperately without the hot water been on?
