Ideal C24 High Pressure and Water out of Overflow

Hi Guys,

My 1st post and after a bit of advice. I have an Ideal C24 Combi boiler. Got home tonight and water is coming out of the overflow. Switched off boiler and the pressure was at around 3.4 bar. The boiler has been making a kind of ticking noise the last few days (thought it was the pump on the way out maybe??)

I have released some pressure via the radiator and the pressure has not increased?

Any suggestions appreciated - thanks

Is filling loop passing? The ticking noise is probably the Pressure relief valve letting off pressure.

Hi - thanks for the fast reply. My mains filling loop has 3 quarter turn valves in it. I usually just have the one turned off all the time, unless topping up system after removing a rad etc. Have closed another one now. The pressure has not returned since I released it earlier. I might fire up boiler again and see what happens???

Could be your expansion tanks shot

i put my money on your expansion vessel being duff, no room for expansion in your sealed system will overpressurize it and it will blow off via the pressure relief valve. turn your boiler on again on central heating and run it again for a good half hour and see what happens

If the pressure only rises when boiler is on it could be the expansion vessel has gone or needs repressurised.

You could try removing the temp flexi loop too just to verify it isn't passing as previously mentioned🙂

'place to start' what exactly?? i hope your not going to start playing around with your own boiler :cry_smile: good luck with finding the problem but if you have to start digging inside, then get a pro out 🙂

Was gonna measure pressure in expansion vessel. I pressed the valve and no water came out. I will run boiler again and see what happens. If still the same I'll get someone out
