Hi guys,
Looking for some help!! I have just joined and the problem i have is with an Ideal HE24 Icos boiler.
Recently i have changed the main PCB and have the upgraded orange PCB (V9?)
It has been working fine ever since (about 5 weeks ago) today i have come home and it wont ignite!! No error code! i have turned it off at the mains and turned it back on and nothing!
I have checked the mains supply and all is ok, even on the swithched mains in i have 240V when swithing on the hot water or heating.
Any clues?
Thanks in advance, James.

Why did you change the pcb 5 weeks ago, what was wrong then ?

have you checked its not the external controls? is the boiler getting power to the switched live?

the pcb was changed due to the led display being dead.
the external equipment is fine, its gettinga switched live. It can sit there for an hour with the switched live on and do nothing. I have reset the boiler from its spur again 3 hors ago and it has worked fine since! I bet it won't in the morning again though!!

Ignition electrodes are like everything else on these boilers MADE OUT OF CHOCOLATE But it should display a fault if does not ignite. To be honest thats the only reliable thing with these is a constant fault is always displayed

thanks guys for all the comments.
the electrics are fine, i have an electrical/electronic background.
its still running, fingers crossed!!
the boiler is only 3 years old, maybe we should move house......

Died again!!
I have bypassed the timer (which may of been suspect) so the room stat is live all the time and should start the boiler when it clicks in, but it doesnt! it sits there still displaying 0 even though i put a voltage meter on the pcb that says it is 240V and 0 volt when the stat clicks out. I am thinking that this will mean another PCB, is there any known problems with the newer orange style?
Thanks.

ive fitted loads of the orange boards and never had a prob with one except when a fan went and took the pcb with it.

yes i definetley did. i have since changed the PCB again and am getting an LF code, i am going to get the flame detection electrode changed next and see what happens then!!!

the flame detection electrode has been changed and the ignition electrode, same fault! it wants to start and you can hear it click (ignite?) and in about 2 or 3 seconds it cuts out again. I have since cleaned out the trap and washed it out. Same fault stll there!
I am seriously losing my patience with this pile of rubbish!
Any body else got any ideas before i try and replace the whole thing.
Thanks.

Did you get this sorted ?
If not have you checked the spark generator ?

Thanks i do have it sorted now.
The spark generator and its lead were changed, same problem!!
I called in British Gas on a fixed price £99 (inc labour and parts, although i had to join their homecare, not a bad idea with one of these boilers i now think!!!) they changed the PCB (yet again and checked various others bits, i have to admit that their service was far better than i expected (hope it continues).
Thanks for all the help along the way/saga!
