Hi there guys.

Im looking at a Ideal Icos HE 12 ( i know destroy the piece of S...) on a unvented cylinder S plan system.
First of all the heating wasnt working which turned out to be a faulty motorised valve on the heating side.
When i call for hot water it fires up then locks out on H:A error code with some banging noises. Which i gather means its overheating. Condensate trap is clear and there seems to be no air in the system, and pump is fine.
If i run the heating (everythings fine) then call for hot water at the same time, it works, and favours the hot water, all is fine. Turn off CH demand boiler locks out with H:A error.
Anybody have any ideas?
I would say swap the boiler but its for a friend and would help them out if i got it going.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey thanks for the quick reply, will check the wiring soon as I can, would you be able to elaborate more on the possible overun issue? Though I'm fairly au fait with boilers I'm not that in to fault finding. But with it been a friend it gives me some practice. And for your piece of mind I'm all qualified etc...

you need to check the motorized valve wiring ,if it favors dhw sounds like a misplaced wire, also taking out the pump over run (if required by the icos) if you just replaced the head base may be sticking if you replaced the whole valve back to the wiring

Hi, finally got around to checking wiring, seems okay. Reading back to my original post it seems I forgot an important detail. That this fault on the HW was present before I changed the heating valve. Stumped for ideas now, could it be a blockage somewhere or overheat stat even though everything is fine when the heating is running. My friend say it fine as it I'd using the immersion heater (seems he may have been doing so for FIVE years) but I'd lIje to still sort it. Plus there's loads of these sh@t boilers on his estate £££Thanks again. (that's a lot of writing)

Personally sounds like little to do with the boiler as it's telling you it's overheating. Sounds more like something to do with the wiring like on hot hater only the valves remain closed/blocked yet the boiler is coming on!

Pardon gas man where is the axe
