Hi guys,

Quick question, I have personally not done much in terms of fault finding within boilers I use someone for that but its about time I got the head down on it! Here we go..

Ideal Isar 35HE, no display on panel, 3A wall spur working fine, power getting into boiler, internal fuse on PCB is fine! I'm assuming that the PCB needs replaced can someone just confirm that please and roughly the cost of the part? Thanks a lot.

Yep! May also take out the new PCB if the fan's faulty !!! Alas ... Usually get away with the pcb though 🙂

Yeh, how much is the PCB from a local spares stock roughly? Is a new pcb warrantied?

Do you know if it's the old isar or new? The new one has the separate ignition unit, the old one incorporated the ignition as part of the pcb!

wouldnt touch with a barge pole.
simple reason, = no returns.
how do you know if its a dud?.
if it were for my boiler (as its an ideal, its not) then i want as cheap as posible.
if its a custards, then just bill them the price from parts center where you can nip back to if any problems.

nice mark up if its ok though.lol.

Thats the thing ive not changed much of these, is setting the jumpers and that in the manual ?

Thanks lads

yes it will have a leaflet with it but just look at the jumper positions on the one you are taking out and place them in the same sequence. The pins are very close together so make sure you count them properley.

Just changed a PCB unit (no display - fuse OK etc.) changed black for Orange - made sure to set jumpers as old (ISAR 30 actually) - still no display!! Paperwork says if no display then jumpers are wrong... Double checked. Triple checked!

Any clues??

If swapping the pcbs on these their are other components you have to check. Ideal will give you correct resistances on them and tell you what you need to check. Changed 2 recently on the isar he 30. Black to the new orange ones.

The black PCBs on those boilers were a big problem and like others have said they were replaced with the orange ones. I hate working on isars/icos the have crammed most of the components inside the bottom quarter of the boiler. Even emptying the condense sump is a pain in the neck.
