Hi there

I have an ideal isar HE24. It is acting up again. Frm reading the forum this is not uncommon for these boilers to pack up. I am moving house in 3 weeks so need to get it working again.

I am a plumber but not gas registered. I have a friend that does my gas work for me but can't get hold of him until tomorrow.

The problem is after the ch has turned off the dhw will not work, I have to go to the boiler and turn it off for a couple of seconds, then turn it back on and the dhw will work fine. If the ch is turned on and turns off by itself it should default to dhw but it doesn't. I have to go and reset the boiler again.

Could it be the pcb that has gone again or the diverter valve? I say pcb because that is what went last year. £120 mates rates!!

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers for now

The display will read c or d or t, it sounds like the diverter valve is stuck, quite common on these, if the display doesn't cross over to d when you turn the tap on check the diverter valve is operating, you can remove the head without draing down, if the pin moves in and out on the head, the diverter valve is stuck, sometimes you can remove them and clean them but they usually stick again in a few days or weeks.

Hi casaco

Thanks for the reply, it does display d when hot tap is turned on but boiler light does not come on. The pump is running but no hot water? If turned off and on again the boiler light will up and heat the water. But if central heating is turned on the water will not get hot until the boiler is reset??

I'm gona stick my neck out and say its the hw ntc. This ntc recognises the water movement via decrease in temp, effectively a water flow switch/temp sensor. The initial D you get will be the hw preheat. I'd try the ntc 1st. Also the cheapest option

Gremlin seems to be leaving the boiler, after a day out the house, the boiler seems to be working slightly better, it looks like the diverter was stuck. Hopefully it holds out until I move out.

Problem sorted, the motor for the diverter valve was at the end of its life. £100 fitted.

Have a good Christmas everyone.

Well done, pity you didn't live in Derby, got a couple of used but working spares.
Best regards,
casaco
