Hi guys,
i had my Ideal logic fitted just over 2 years ago and apart from a fan swap I've had no issues until now and I don't even know if this is an issue, let me explain.
i know or guess that I've got a very slight leak in my piping but think it's under a floor somewhere as I've I get air in a rad and have had to top my system up just a little every now an then.
Now to to the possible problem, after being away from home for a month, I returned to a low pressure fault and the pressure gauge was reading .5 of a bar. Topped it up to 1.5 and boiler fire no prob. Check it again the next day and it was at 1 bar. Topped up again and then realised that as soon as I turn the boiler isolation taps back on that the pressure immediately drops back to around 1 bar.
Now I honestly can't remember the last time I'd topped up or checked before my 1 month away so the initial fault code on my return could have just been the gradual loss due to the small leak but is it normal for the pressure gauge to drop to around 1 bar immediately on un-isolating it after a top up as I can't say I'd ever noticed before?
Today I tried filling it to 1.8 bar after putting a pot under the condensate waste pipe and again it immediately dropped to around 1 bar after first closing the filling loop and then opening the boiler taps. I checked the pot and nothing had come out of either that or the pressure relief pipe so again is this normal and if not then what could be happening?
Hope I've given enough info without to much waffle lol
