Hi

One of my customers has a problem with their immersion heater.

Don't have much experience with them so looking for advice on what to check.

Do I turn it on and check it have 240v on the live, is it that simple?

First check overheat reset if fitted.

Then check the thermostat for continuity, with wires disconnected.

Then check heating element for continuity with wires disconnected.

I also check between heater and cylinder to see if its blown through.

Rule 101 with immersion heaters.
Is it switched on ! May have one in the airing cupboard and kitchen.

Dont always assume if you have 240 at your stat it is actually pulling , best way is a clamp meter .
In my experience its usually the stat, if the actual immersions gone , its blown a fuse or tripped the RCD
