P
Plucky
Called out to a customer with an old rayburn.
They had reported smell of fumes coming from stairwell, which is nect to the chimney. On inspection via hatch in register plate this is what I found.

What is my best course of action?
The appliance is running on Oil. I dont know whether the seal from the bit you can see has fallen out or something?
The flue external diameter is 5.75" and cast iron so a 5" liner would drop down but I am unsure of flue fittings t use to make the connections to the starter section from the boiler and the terminal etc for the top.
The chimney is also serving an 2 open fires so would need to take that into consideration when terminating at the top.
Work would be undertaken with OFTEC engineer but he only does servicing hence him bringing me on on the job.
Any advice greatly recieved.
