hi guys new to this forum & i'm after a bit of help, ive installed bathroom suits before and i'm fine with installing and moving pipe work & sinks, baths & toilets around but ive been asked to install a shower unit which of course means a new waste aswell, my question is, if anything what do i channel it into? would 40mm pipe be correct? and also what type of trap would i need?
thanks for any help

Upstairs or downstairs? Yes 40mm, if underfloor use solvent weld pipe. You are looking for a hopper if upstairs or boss into soil stack. Do not tee into any other 40mm. Trap could be supplied with tray or ask for shower trap at merchants (use one which dismantles for cleaning, I think Polyplumb do one)

you can tee into other waste pipe but use a hepvo anti syphon trap, to stop gurgling etc but yes its best to have the waste on its own if poss

Imho i think its best to not tee into runs and have its own individual run. Problems can start when tee'in into things and in this situation its prob easiest for the OP to do a individual run

Use mcalpine ! Great make and never have problems with them

A hopper? Do people still fit those?

hoppers are still common on london victorean terraces as the soil is often on the very back of the building where the old outside wc was and the gully is at the side as most inner london is combined drains this is the easier route for bath and basin to run into

You can tee into wastes aslong as your pipe sizing is correct
