Hi, i've just had a combi boiler fitted, vaillant 824, do i still need the air vent from previous boiler or can i patch this up? Another quick question is i've noticed a noise coming from the boiler i didn't hear at first, only seems to be when central heating is on, it seems to be around heat exchange area when it's built up a bit of heat there's a metallic [expanding]clonking sound [not loud] is this normal? I thought it was a couple of hanging pans in the kitchen at first, just if any light can be shed before i mention it to the fitter it would be handy.Cheers

air vent not required as these are room sealed boilers and no ther shouldnt be any noise from boiler has the auto air vent on the pump been opened as may well be trapped air

apologies newbie, if you know this appliance, as i dont, but the OP doesnt say where the boiler is, so it is possible it is in a compartment (and may need vents)
OP bit more info required just to confirm, or look in the manufacturers instructions, if boiler is in a room it is ok, if in a compartment it MAY need vents

Sounds like i can do away with vent then!🙂 Cheers.
I shouldn't be getting any noise eighter, only the the burner and pump.
