newcastle phill

So twice on one day i have chased unwanted customers.

Customer 1.
Wanted me to fit a boiler. Did loads of running around and then.....silence...

A year later - hi phill can you service my boiler...what the old Isar ????
No a new one....

Thanks but no thanks mate - dont want your work.

Customer 2.
Did a service nearly 2 years ago then no contact to reminder. Then late last night phone rings - i ignore. And today early doors...
Ohh it played up 2 month ago and ive had 3 lads out - can you take a look.

Thanks mate but call the others back - dont want to know.

I may be skint - but feeling satisfied..

Anyway HI all - its been a while

classics and dont you send reminders out ? even easier if you have there email and no cost

Made me feel good just reading that!
Wish I could do the same with everyone that just uses me, but I can't seem to always say No.
I get the "I thought you no longer worked at plumbing" excuse bull from loads of people.
I feel like answering, - If you thought that, then why did you ring me to fix your faulty plumbing after you didn't bother contacting me to install it in the first place?

I've done something similar to the first one.

Next doors oil boiler burst.I put a quote together for them, and answered their insurance company questions.

Woke up one morning the husband and her father were putting a new boiler in.

Week later I was in the back garden when she came bouncing up to the fence in a low cut top.... "John, my boiler's not working can you take a look at it?"

"No. You'd better get the boy back that fitted it!"

Then turned and walked off, Mrs Croppie was looking out the window at the time and said her face was a picture!

Me too. For me it's a combination of being allergic to confrontations of any sort (even an emarrassed awkward silence is enough to make jump out of a window) and fear that any perceived rudeness can come back to bite you in the form of an online abuse campaign, a pyscho grudged-up custard or something else. The fault is all mine of course. Tell them you're not interested and no doubt in 999 out of 1000 cases thats the last you'll hear of it.

One problem I have is wanting to reject a customer, but not lying to them.
Telling a customer who has had other plumbers doing work that I am too busy is obvious to them the truth is - I could do their job, but won't as I have a grudge against them.

Yeh shaun, auto reminders that also pp me in so i remind myself lol.
Just cant understand some people - proper **** takers.
Im very easy going and do anything to help, but i just cant help those that rob me of time and expense then drop me for no reason.

Im really not very pushy and not a salesman - probably to my detriment tbh.

Yeh its been a while since i was last here....still plodding on
