Can I pick the experts brains again please?

With combi boilers, is there a built in delay to take care if the CH thermostat cutting in and out?

The thought occurs to me that perhaps it would not be ideal if the boiler fired up each and every time the thermostat clicked on and off according to room temperature change. It seems to me it might be better as far as wear and tear is concerned if a delay was built in (say 10 minutes or some such) after reaching temperature and firing up again. If this is the case, how is it done?

As I say, I don't have a problem, just a thought.

kind ragards,
boydell.

Yes - they do have a delay in modern thermostats. it is called an anticipator and pretty much anticipates the temperature rise and fall allowing a delay so as not to cycle on and off to regularly. somtimes they aren't wired in properly - connecting a neutral into the circuit is needed.
Any way that's the best I can describe it to you without frying my brain - you may find more on the internet.

He means the boilers, yes theres a delay in the boiler of usually 10 minutes between fire down and fire up, beleive this is controlled by the PCB.

The heating delay is on the control board and stops the boiler cycling, which is very inefficient, time delays used to be adjustable but most are now pre set to around 5 to 7 mins

Many thanks lads for the excellent advice. You have put this one to bed for me...cheers.

kind regards,
boydell.
