Just viewed a house :-/

As the title say, I've just viewed a property. It's made me feel really weird though 🙂

Its a nice house, in the area where I want to live and I'd be living literally 20 seconds from my mates, so that's all good.

Something just isn't sitting right though, the house is perfect, but there's a few things niggling me. I don't know if this is normal or I'm being a freak.

Ive made a little list of whats put me off,

1 - The house smelled a bit funny :-( I know this is easily remedied, but it was the first thing that hit me when I worked through the door. It wasn't a dirty smell, it was just the people who lived there smell.

2 - the estate agent was a moody pushy pig (this put me ill at ease from the start to be honest)

3 - the carpet/general decor - again this is easily, easily sorted (plus my old mans a builder, so ill save loads of money on renovating)

4 - the garage - its says on the description that it has a garage, which it does, what it doesn't say is that its on the opposite side of the road (the picture on rightmove.co.uk has a garage next to the house, but this is next doors garage)

i know these are minor, minor things and maybe I was just a bit freaked out with the whole experience, as all this has been a whirlwind to be honest and happened really quick.

Or maybe I shouldn't have viewed a home is a bad mood (the office made me work in handsworth (google it) 🙂

Or maybe I'm getting carried away with living near my mates, they all live on this estate, but they are all married/coupled up etc and live in larger homes, which I can't afford on my own.

Overall it's been a weird experience and a bit strange to be honest. But I'm going to have the weekend sorting my tax return and I'm going to have a second view in the week, but I'm taking my mom next time 🙂

that's what I'm feeling. I didn't hate the house, I was just a bit thrown by the whole experience.

Going to book a second viewing on Monday.

The smell will still be there, I don't think I was very clear in my first post. It wasn't a dirty smell, it was just the smell of the house. All homes have them, this one just smelt funny. Reminded me of church when I was a kid.

Yeah on my own. I rang her today to book for tomorrow and she had a cancellation at another property and she could fit me in today.

Mate, I haven't worked there since my apprenticeship and forgot how Absolutly disgustingly vile it is 🙂

in every property I was being asked for freebies! What's that about!!! Normally I get one person a week asking if I can service another appliance for free while I'm there, but it happened in every house (I kid you not)

then I got stuck on the soho road on the way home 🙂

What were the plus points mate other that it being near your mates? If it doesn't feel right keep looking. You've waited this long.

I worked round there a few times. Armed myself with bit of steel pipe readily available by the side door incase I got jumped when going back and forth to the van.

Any doubts don't do it. One will come up, smells and decor I can see past. All I think of is there profit in it when I've done with it.

A garage is a must where would you put all the stuff that you think you will use one day.

To be honest it doesn't need any major work which is a massive plus point mate.

Even though its a two bed, its a decent size and plenty for a single bloke.

Its in a brilliant area, its under my budget, so ill have money left over, which is a bonus 🙂

I do genuinely like it, the more I sit here now I thinks it's more to do with the fact I was in a foul mood and the viewing was sort of sprung on me.

Im definitely going to view it again with my mom and dad 🙂

No garage = no house, like you say we have too much gear to store and a garage is a must.

Theres no really money to be made in this really, although she is selling at a couple of grand below asking price as she needs a quick sale and it does have room for a conservatory and the garden is a mess.

So these tiny improvements could add a small value but not much.

Its probably not a bad thing, I just thought it would be like my mates where you can walk into the garage from your hallway. I was planning on having an extra fridge/freezer and dryer etc in there as the kitchens not the biggest.

When buying properties try and think how you would feel in years to come. What looks good today ie living in close to friends might seem appealing. In a few years you could find you live to regret it

See how that feels and take time to ponder!
You can also test the flushing action an maybe change that smell to a one more personal to you!

Im easy on the new build/old build house debate, I'd live in either. The one I viewed today is only 7 years old, but it hasn't been touched by the owner at all, it looked really lived in.

I like new build too though, but they are not built like older homes. But nothing is made like it used to be.
