Hi

Our 7 or 8 year old suprima started banging the other day as it did 2 years ago back then I used Sentinel x100 on it and it went away. This time I put Sentinel x200 silencer into the system and have bled all rads but its still doing it.

I am now wondering if the old myson compact cp53 pump has stopped working. This is the original pump that was in the house long before we changed the boiler. How can you tell if its working or not. I checked for a live feed which it is getting from the boiler OK and there is a slight hum and a very slight water rushing noise so it sounds like it is working but I want to know for sure.

I am guessing that air is trapped around the boiler and the pump is too weak to clear it. We have hot water and only the upstairs rads are hot I managed to get one downstairs hot by turning off the other two downstairs but it soon went cold again.

Its a Potterton Suprima open system

Cheers

Cheers Is there no way to tell for sure if the pump is working

Also if I am changing the pump is it best to get another myson cp53 or is there a better option

Think I will go with the Grundfos will try the merchants in the morning see if its cheaper than screwfix.

Got a new 15/50 today and changed all the twisty pipework around the old pump as well less bends now and also fitted an auto bleed valve. Now the boiler is running fine and all rads are hot so it was the pump.

Cheers
