Kitchen mixer tap sticking

My swan neck kitchen mixer cold tap is sticking big time so I cant get water when I turn tap. I have removed the handle, retaining screw, shield and circlip. If I put the handle back on and use it normally, nothing happens until after about 2-3 360 degree turns, and then spindle (?) suddenly frees up and water comes pouring out (higher rate than usual). If I then out the circlip back on, no water when I turn tap! I have looked at the hot water tap and I think I may need to grease the cold tap to loosen it up. Any views on if this is the problem, and if so, which is the best grease to buy and how do I ensure it is greased properly (ie do I need to take any more of the tap apart)? thanks

Just put new 1/2"tap heads on,you can get them from plumbers merchants,turn water off remove tap head covers,unscrew tap heads,fit new

often they just need a good clean and regrease especially the hexagonal slide all will be apparent if you strip them down
