Hi

I am new to the plumbing industry so please excuse me if my question sounds a little dumb.
A guy has rang me to ask why his kitchen mixer tap has water coming from the cold side but NO water coming from the hot side. The mixer tap is a lever type action and runs off a combi boiler. My guess is that it could be the ceramic disk or could it be that it is blocked???

Many thanks

Probably a blocked non return valve. Normally when a cartridge goes on a quarter turn tap it will drip, not shut off all together. Though there is a chance the disc in the cartridge has broken and been left in the closed posistion.

Not a stupid question mate. Should be quite easy to isolate the supply, and check it through.

Also look at the spout of the tap for blockages. Most kitchen taps are a pipe within a pipe, to prevent backflow. I once had a tap which was blocked on the hot with a lump of limescale. Check the spout too!

Definitely not a stupid question. So far 5 replies and 74 views. I'm one of those views because I didn't know the answer either and I suspect a good 50 others didn't know either!!

Thanks for asking it!!
