Leak in water line?

Hello,

I have a flat where a water meter was put in a few months ago. This has been inserted below the bath where the water line comes in a 2 bed terraced flat. Basically as far as I can tell the water piper just go from the bathroom to the next room which is the kitchen where the Combi is. Then the combi pipes go into the other rooms. Now there can't be a leak on the combi pipes as then the pressure on the boiler would go down, anyway that's a sealed unit. So there must be a leak in either the kitchen or bathroom. I have had a quick visual look and can't see anything.

The meter turns around 3 bars every hour. When you flush it it turns around 8. So I estimate around a liter of water leakage per hour according to the meter?? Am I right? The flooring in the kitchen and bathroom is cemented. There is no damp or signs of water leakage. Surely 1 liter per hour would show up somewhere after a few months?

What can I do to trace the leak? How do these water meter's work? Since its inside the flat will it tick if there is a leak outside below the rear yard Not that I have seen any signs of it there.

What pressure is your combi sitting at? Your fill loop may be passing and throwing water out the pressure relief.

I didn't check but I did keep very quiet trying to hear a leak in the bathroom but could not. I would have heard the toilet overflowing right?

I had a call out on a similar problem and it was the toilet internal overflow. New fill valve and all was sorted.

Yep, probably a new age 'water saving' flush valve assembley thats dumping 24 litres of clean fresh drinking water into the sewers everyday.

Nothing out of the ordinary there. It switches off once its full & the pressure on boiler is fine. Anything else we can consider? How often can you get a faulty meter?

One trick I like to do is to get a long screwdriver and hold it against the mains pipe downstairs and press the handle to your ear, if water is being used you will hear it.

Make sure nothing is being used though.
