Leaking hot water tank; repair or get a new one ???

HI everyone 🙂 I'm a girl and have a problem; My hot water tank upstairs started to leak yesterday 🙁 I don't know if it's worth getting someone to try to repair it or just get the new one. Thank you very much for any advice.

depends how bad it is and where it is leaking from. Get a decent plumber out and he will tell you. Probably just needs repairing though

Thank you. It leaks from underneath. I've checked all valves and tubes - all dry. It was leaking downstairs but since I've put the towels around it and it stopped and I only wring out the towels every 2-3 hours. There's still heating and hot water and the green light's on.

Is it better to get new tank or get new combi boiler ???? I've got no idea what I'm doing ...sorry 🙂

I find they leak from around the immersion or top of tank where the copper goes thin & brittle, it can run down inside the insulation & make it difficult to trace where it's leaking.

If the tank is old then it would need replacing, but a plumber will be able I check it out for you.

what ever you do, turn off the cold water before you go away and drain the HW system down if you can, less chance of such a mess if it decides to go pop, ie only 50 gals not 100 gals 🙂

Don't go-away with this full of water get someone to drain cylinder, when you get it replaced get a Stainless Steel one fitted.
