Just had a call from a referral about stopcock leaking at rear of dishwasher. I need to turn off outside stopcock and then change inner. Can I replace inner with a screwdriver operated compression valve? Also, any tips for the outside stopcock?

Please do not use a ball-a-fix valve for main stopcock in property, you may as well not fit anything, all that will happen is it will leak and seize up,fit proper brass stopcock, thats why they make them

As for tips about outside stopcock ?mmmmm,it out side 😎

Do you mean replace it with an isolation valve? and do you mean on the dishwasher supply not the service entry for the entire building?

If you lot weren't plumbers, don't think about being comedians.

I was not talking about the MAIN stopcock being replaced with an isolation valve😱, but the one going to the dishwasher.

As it is, the job's done - so no more need for your sarky tips.

not being sarky but the wording is all wrong thats why you had the replys you had - not sticking up for anyone (well i am really i suppose) but from what i read you were on about the outside stopcock to turn mains off and the 'inner' your words not mine stopcock. no mention of the dishwasher vave and if you did mean that then no you wouldnt be able to change that for a service valve as the threads are different size.

glad you sorted it though. what did you do out of interest change the appliance valve? washer on the hose?
