the vids a bit naff but there you go....

guesses what caused this to happen?.

6pm today
the guys in italy at the moment so asked his bro to look after the place, he had not been around for 4 days to find water coming down the stairs wreaking the place leaving about £2-3k damage plus a new boiler..it resembled a fish tank filling up to the fan level:devil2:

wonder if he bought him a stick of rock back?

Water wil have got into all the cables under the insulation I would imagine, water into burner, possibly into gas valve? I wouldn't want to put it back into action as you don't know what's been damaged personally.

Ive had this before on a vaillant, but the casing is such a tight fit, I took the case off and it was like a tidal wave! I always fit an air break when going into a down pipe. It was in fact the down pipe that had blocked and backed up into the boiler which was above the hall on the first floor. First sign was water dripping through light fitting in hall.

bit like my likkle blue van after the mrs drowned it, did its best but died, even a hair drier failed to help,

lol,
this is exactly what happened!. you could see fish through the burner window even the pressure gauge was half full lol.
the heavy rain had washed the moss of the roof, blocked the down pipe and backed up into the boiler this was not helped by the 1/2'' clearance of the down pipe to pot grid leaving the moss no where to go. it filled the down pipe, condensate then came into the boiler, then made its way to the fan housing causing it to drip out the boiler. opening the combustion door made me jump lol.

the black stuff around the don pipe is what came out after a good boot!!

So, do you guys carry hair dryers on the van?
argos for a £5, it can save your life,
once on a final check the tiny copper tube for the pressure guage snapped, fine unstopable spray of hot water all over the electrics and pcb
managed to get it going again with a hair dryer

You gits have cursed me, look what I had to go home and steal from the Missus!

My god I hate this boiler, been chasing leaks on it for hours today!

Never used wd40, will bear that in mind. Is it non conductive then? I use a heat gun, just need to be careful with it but I have even managed to resolder a dry joint on a ideal classic board for long enough to get a replacement with it in the past.

Unlucky RICkY, what boiler is it? Did you feel ever so slightly gay wafting that pink hair dryer around all day? 🙂
