Hi All
I am new to this forum. I have joined because i am desperate fro advice regarding an ongoing problem. We have a large radiator in our living room and about 18 months ago the solder on the joint between a horizontal and vetical pipe (leading up to the radiator) failed. Since then it has been looked at by 5 different plumbers and has had 8 repairs! The section of pipe has also been completely replaced 3 times also. The repairs last for a few weeks and then fail again. We are running out of plumbers! I would be very, very grateful for any advice as too why this keeps happening.

looks like top joint isnt soldered properly, maybe if you post your location, or post job in plumber wanted thread a pro will be able to contact you. maybe the plumbers you have had before didnt get all the water out of the big pipe to enable the joint to be soldered properly.

Get the next plumber to cut the tee out and add a new section of pipe (3 pieces) and a new tee.

Hi Howsie It depends really. Somestimes it's seeping on another occasion there was a fine mist spraying out and i would say pin also. Sorry to seem so difficult! We have 3 kids in the house, don't let them near it! Lol

Hi Dancinplumba - It has been mentioned by 3 of the plumbers that they think the previous one hasn't soldered dry pipes. They then do the job and the same happens. It's really getting me down.... One had mentioned that a compression joint may work?? but he didn't come back. Once they have fixed it twice, they never return my calls the 3rd time. :-(

definitely doesn't look soldered right tell the next plumber to cut out a section of pipe including the tee. and replace with new copper pipe and tee soldered before fitting. cut to size and use two compression straights to join

Now that sounds promising. I will print this off and put this to the next lucky guy who gets the job! Thanks so much.

You can tell both from the picture and how many people have tried to re-solder that the pipe is properly awkwardly positioned. Probably impossible to cut without doing damage to floor/wall. you might need to ask the next guy to be honest with you and tell you if he thinks the tee can be cut out and replaced without some bashing.

especially the ones with a leaky valve, you think all the water is out of the pipe then along comes some more

Hi had a problem like this years ago in a large house, the pipe run was too long before
any bends, one tee joint to a radiator kept leaking after cutting out and replacing a few times. Was told by a heating designer to put a expansion loop in,we put a section of Hep2o in the middle of the long run.It cured the problem
