student plumber

A couple of friends suggested to me instead of looking for a plumber to take me on, ask if someone would let me follow them.

I can understand where they're coming from, plumbers want to work not look over students shoulder, train him, pay him when short of work.

The idea is plumber does the work and I watch.
I'm not looking to pinch customers just watch.
I won't stop you working and ask questions just watch what you do.
I'm not working just watching so don't get paid.

I'm based in Devizes and have a part-time night job 5 days a week and some weekends 20 miles from home.

Any help please.

Further to earlier question, I said to my friends I could fetch and carry, but they said "No you don't do anything that they might feel they have to be responsible for you" in case something got damaged or I got hurt.

They also said in time they might ask "you've done these before right, do you want to have a go at this one"
