I have a Main Combi 24he with an unusual fault. When DHW is run, the fan kicks in, pump turns and then the burner fires, a few seconds later, the burner goes out and all the power cuts, the indicator lights all go out. A second later, the power comes back on and the cycle starts again on- off on - off

First of all changed the pressure switch, made no difference, then it seemed there may be a power issue so had the board looked at last week, some of the caps were reading low so had them all changed and any dry joints/track soldered and made good. It has worked fine since Monday evening but fault started again this morning! Now it is workign as normal again, so the fault seems intermittent!

Any help is much appreciated!

Call in a gsr we cannot give gas related info out

I cant see it being the gas side of things! It seems more electrical, my GSR doesnt think its gas side either! Im just after a bit of advice, which I will pass to him. The board was repaired and its worke fo rthe last 4 days, now the fault is intermittent

Its a gas fired boiler, you need a gsr

The pcb is electronic, I work in electronics! If its not he pcb and is another component, my GSR will deal with it, what I don't want is a trial and error, change this first, then change that which will end up costing me a lot of money, Imwould rather invest in a new boiler if that's the case!

so a bit of advice would be handy so I can pass the info on!

Have you removed the cover ? Are you competent ? Can you prove competence ?
You have played with and modified the PCB, you are a danger. Get a gsr in

That was removed by my gsr, the engineers I work with are highly qualified and repair equipment far more complicated that a boiler pcb on a daily basis!

i can see I won't get any help here

As dancinplumba said, get a gsr. Doesn't matter if you work in electronics or in rocket science, the regs are there to keep you, your family and neighbours safe.
Funnily enough I have stated in most of my posts that I have a gsr who is working on it! I'm just trying to get him more info to speed things up and reduce the cost!

Let him get his own info. If he's any good he will know where to go!
How do we know you're going to 'pass on this advice'
Your not allowed to touch it,get another GSR in maybe??

Not tight butt! I'd rather have a new boiler fitted than through money at changing every component as part of a trial and error exercise

not all of us do trial by error funnily enough, we diagnose the fault and replace the broken part.

years of experience have taught me not to tell my doctor whats wrong with me, especially not to tell my car mechanic why he is failing to sort out the problem as it tends to end in a bloody nose if you get my drift.

We cannot and will not give advice on the installation or repair of boilers, cookers or ANY gas appliances for your own safety.

Please go to Gas Safe Register | Ensure your gas engineer is registered. or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas Engineer[/DLMURL]

If you are gsr please increase your post count to 10+ then send a PM (Private Message) with your gsr details to either Gas man - http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/users/8668/ or Redsaw - http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/users/2718/ who will check you and then give you access to the gsr private forum.

Providing gas-related advice to anybody who should not be touching gas and cannot prove their competetence is unacceptable. We will take whatever action we deem appropriate to prevent such advice being given
