Hi all

desperate for help i have a property in france that has mains water to the edge of my property with a water meter. Looking for an idiots guide to run pipework to the house some 30 meters away. What size pipe should i use? how deep should i go? Where should i put stopcock inside house or outside. Inside house i intend to run 15mm pipe to whole of house
should this be acceptable. Please Help........... i have minimum knowledge and limited funds
and would be very grateful for any of the expert help that i have reviewed on this site. Thanks once again in advance.

all the best stevie michelle

Hi Steve. The pipe you will need is MDPE say 25 mm. As for frost protection France get very cold, in UK 750 mm cover over pipe is what required to comply (It may well be different in France). So you need a trench say 800 mm deep or whatever. Once pipe is in back filled with a drop of sand for say 150 mm and then whatever come out. You may well have a stop valve at water meter point. If you carry the trench as near to the property as possiable and undermine the wall in order to get a piece of say 100 mm pipe to act as a sleeve to the pipe as is rises vertically into building. The further way from outside wall is comes up the more frost protection you afford it (pahaps along an internal wall running at 90 degrees to external) Bon Chance
