Megaflo Direct Unvented - Hot water runs out quickly

We moved into our flat about 3 years ago, and abrand new Megaflo tank had been fitted. Both elements are wired up, although in the interest of avoiding extortionate electricity bills, we only use one element which is on a timer to come on for about 2 hours a day in the early morning.

For the past 18 months, this has been fine, with hot water for both of us to shower in the morning, and enough for the evenings, for washing up etc...

In the last couple of days however, we now keep running out of hot water very quickly. I have checked, and by setting them individually, the elements both clearly work fine, so I am a little lost as to why this is suddenly a problem.

I have noticed on a couple of occasions (and only very briefly) some slight dripping from the overflow (literally in two instances and only for a minute or two each time), so I wonder if a smaller air gap could cause this problem?

All of our taps are mixer taps, so where the instructions for re-forming the air gap say to open the lowest hot tap, I assume opening one of our taps and turning it to hot would work just as well....

Any other thoughts you might have would be welcome!

Yes opening the hot part of the mixer would suffice. I believe its should be the lowest hot tap, but instructions are normally on a sticker on the cylinder or in the manual! It would be worth trying this and seeing if it makes a difference.
I would'nt expect a loss of air gap to be causing sudden loss of hot water, especially if its only dripping. Maybe the element has scaled up and needs to be on for a litle longer, I think they only have small elements in them so probs not heating the whole tank capacity in the time zones.
