The shower in my house is electric and the pressure is poor at best. We are just about to have the bathroom gutted and I'm wanting a really good pressured shower. I've been told that a 'Megaflo' is the way to go provided the mains pressure and flow is sufficient. The Water board have just tested the mains and I have 5 bar of pressure with a flow of 30 l/min. Is this adequate for a Megaflow and what other options do I have if I want a good pressured shower ??

Thanks

What sort of boiler do you have? Combi or heat only + airing cupboard.

If a combi then straight off the hot and cold, if airing cupboard then you can go for a pumped shower or a shower pump and mixer valve. Both these would be dependant on volume of stored hot and cold water.

Unvented cylinder would be my preference.

5 bar and 30 l/min?

Perfect for a Megaflow!

You lucky .... lots of stars ...

In our house it's around 0.75 bar and 8 l/min - but the water's lovely!

Thanks for replies.

We currently have a condensing bolier with a header tank and f and e (think its called!) in the loft with cylinder in the airing cupboard.

Im guessing a megaflo is more expensive than a shower pump, what other benefits does a megaflo have ???

Thanks.

One negative is if your water is turned off, you've no resevoir. At least with your present system, you've a few gallons you can use. (Mixer taps will be fed from the "balanced" incoming mains as opposed to the cistern in the loft.)

One advantage though is it's cheaper to store hot water (I think - hopefully someone can clarify this?)

Please excuse my ignorance but I have one more question!!

Are there any other options other than pump, megaflo and electric shower ? Pumps are noisy in my very limited experience and electric showers are not powerful enough for me, do I have any other options ??

clean/change your shower head first!!#

is shower fed from a feed on the header tank that also feeds your cylinder? or is it fed from the mains? if from tank would be better run from mains (higher pressure) if already from mains could be a blockage.

how old is leccy shower? the modern ones are pretty good these days its all in the design of the shower head which delivers same amount of water but feels like you are being drowned in water because the water is aerated
