Hi all, Can anybody tell me if a 19L per minute AKW waste shower pump will support the flow of a thermostatic mira select flex? As both got fitted last november and the waste is in complete working order as was tested today but just does not seem to take the water away quickly enough causing the low level tray to build up with water and flood, i know the shower is high performance but would have thought that 19l/min would be enough.

I'm not an expert Scotty, but I would check the waste run for blockage, correct fall, etc. An ordinary gravity waste ought to be capable of coping with a Mira shower IMO.

does the drain pump start at the same time as the shower or is there a delay. that could cause a backlog in the drain making it backflow into the tray.

Both start at same time then waste pump cuts out about 1minute after shower stop's

The current biggest pump in the AKW range the M2 pump will take a maximum of 17ltrs per minute with 22mm inlet and outlet pipework, but is dependent on the distance away from the waste, number of bends in the run and the calibration setting. It should have two flow sensores fitted with a mixer shower which should be connected seperatley to the sensor wires from the back of the pump casing and not joined together. What is the flow rate of the shower being used, as this very much dictates if the pump can cope with the volume of water. Contact AKW Technical Dept if need further advice on 01905 823235

Thanks for reply, flow rate is fairly high, i think that the pump is also an m2, waste is done in 15mm and pump works at 19l per/min however you can adjust this to 23l per/min i don't suppose you know how to do this?

The M2 should not be able to take over 17 ltrs, and should never be used with 15mm pipe as reduces the flow rate but an even greater amount. It can not adjusted upto 23 ltrs.
