Anyone come across a gate valve being used as a three port valve ? Going to look at a small job tomorrow and sounds like they have gate valve being used as three port as cust says for hot water they have to go into cupboard and open up red handled tap,

system is back boiler tank in loft etc etc

all info have at mo

Its not one of those servo warm things is it you have to manually move it accross I think that has a red handle but only seen a few.

No sounded very much like a gate valve ,
said they want updated controls on system ,
and one was this tap they have to turn on when heating hot water ,
when asked what it was described it as red handled tap that they have to turn on everytime they call for hot water

Had a few of these, usely find fully pump'd system Trv / tapstat for hot water, so they used to fit gate valve onto heating supply to close system in summer, Need to upgrade with control pack .
