any way is it possible that my downstairs toilet does not have an air vent as it is only about 3 metres from the main sewer ?
 
It's very common for the downstairs loo to be on a stub stack with no vent.
 
yep he didnt want to buy a rest bend for it

don't compromise yourself fella! if the customer doesn't want it doing properly to regulations, let some idiot do it and walk away. don't be talked into putting your name to something dodgy and bodgy.

stub stack ??? does that mean the soil pipe goes straight from the toilet to the sewer ???, it must be about 3 metres to the man hole where the sewer is
