moving toilet position

toilet is on solid concrete ground floor. The old toilet soil pipe came up from the ground and connected laterally to the wc. We didn't want to see any pipes above ground level and the plumber said he could move the soil pipe and we could use one of those close coupled toilets where you can't see the pipes. Now he says he can't move the position of the pipe where it comes up from the ground and we will have to have the toilet literally over where the pipe emerges resulting in the new toilet virtually against the wall with no room to move. Is there a way of connecting to the ceramic soil pipe at a point just below ground level with a 90 degree connecter and then using another 90 degree connector to connect to the new toilet. Any help would be so appreciated.

Can you post a picture of the toilet and the soil pipe coming out of the floor. Sometimes you can core drill a hole through the wall and re-connect with the drain outside, dependent on length of run etc. This would not be the cheapest option as you'd need to do some ground work outside. From what you've put, I'm struggling to picture it but the more bends you have the more chance of blockages.

As said a pic would be good but there should be no reason the soil pipe can not be moved,this has to be done a lot to do the job correctly,if it is a wooden floor not to bad but even when in concrete not a big job,a mornings work and the results of the newly positioned w/c as regards extra space,is really worth it

Thanks for replies. Finally got a pic uploaded. Its an interior toilet - no outside wall - and pipe on right goes under solid floor and connects underground to an internal manhole about 3 metres away. Does this make it impossible? Thanks

I think your best option will be to box the pipework in

You will not be able to go on to that comfortably

The way that it is plumbed in now is prob the best way to do it

Dig up the concrete and tie into the underground waste. Pull the angled pan connector first to check that the toilet is end of line and not t'd off. It's a bit (lot) more work but will give you a good professional finish.

Or back to the wall pan and concealed cistern, bit of studwork and tile false wall. Easier.

Depends how much money you want to throw at the problem?

Personally, I'd to what simon johns said or go for the concealed cistern simonG.

Certainly a lot more work to do anything else. If you want to change the posistion of the soil pipe speak to your plumber again. Ask him if he wants to do it. As he's there, there may be a solution or a reason we can't see. Maybe he just doesn't want the aggravation.

Thanks everyone so much for your assistance. We did initially consult the plumber as to what sort of toilet would be ok and he at that time said we could buy any type as he could move the soil pipe. Now, of course, I don't think he had really thought about it,or that he could 'fob us off'. Its really good to know that it is actually possible to 'move' the soil pipe. We will go back to him with the above information. A thousand thanks for your help with this, its so appreciated.
