Hi All, saw a myson apollo 50s yesterday, pilot kept going out, have put 2 different thermocouples in it, it stays lit for up to 5/6 hours then goes out again. Any suggestions. Cheers John

are you gsr john?you need to join the gsr only forum and the plumbers arms pm dave in admin your business details

does this boiler have an interupter? i think it does, if so this is the likely fault, they also suffer with the top hats wearing, make sure you are getting a nice flame from the pilot assembley

i am gsr so will pass on my details. The thermocouple i took out wasn't an interrupted type, the one specified wasn't either? pilot flame looks ok i think.

i thought it was on these boilers, is there a linked stat on the heat exchanger?
Another thought, i had a simalar fault a few years ago.... is that, the guvoner on the meter is faulty, the one I had the boiler worked fine and kept getting called back after changing thermocouple etc, turned out that when the hob was turned on it knocked the pilot out, so check wp at boiler with all appliances running and wp at meter. Just to rule this out

as far as i remember they are the apollo has a low water content heat exchanger so has a high limit thermostat built into the thermocouple via a interrupter

eah thats what i thought gas man, 2 blak wires that link to the spade connections on the thermocouple with those stupid litlle screws

defo wasn't one of those fitted previously, the gas spares shop checked for the correct thermocouple on their computer and gave me one without? will check working pressures to rule out governor.Cheers

thermocouples correct, pump overun stat or interrupter not part of the thermocouple on this boiler,it is unlikely to be working pressures or the Governor but worth a check anyway

thats why you need to join the gsr forum, but if your a gsr engineer its a simple elimination process,i cant give you the answers on a open forum but your working it out for your self
