Has anyone enrolled or registered on the new Diploma in plumbing.

Just wondering how people are finding it compared with the old tech certs and NVQ's?😕

im doing the old tech cert at the minute but im doing a bridging unit once ive done this so i can get the nvq, funy thing is im going to be gs safe registerd before ive finished my tech cert, my college has made a right b***s up of sorting stuff out.

does any one have any info on this as i am doing the ppc2 course with TQ and would like to know if i would have any problems doing my nvq when i have finished the ppc2 course or is the diploma just a new name and have a few extra bits added on

sorry it the trade qualified course which covers 6129-02, 6022, 6032, citb, bpec, part p cscs card and first aid

the job part is coved as i have a job lined up which is cool but if they change it from nvq to diploma would i have any problems as i am quessing that they would have changed more than the name or would it just carry on as norm with no problems

I'm assuming the NVQ and tech certs will still run for a few years yet? The two colleges round my area that are running plumbing courses are still offering the NVQ apprentice routes and I doubt they'll be quick to pick up the diploma, nobody wants to be the guinea pig I guess.

the old nvq will NOT be avialable from end of march so whether you want to be a guinea pig or not you can only run the diploma

the only people on the old quals are those finishing off

the new diploma will be different form the old nvq but there will be an option to use your tc2 to credit you with some units but not all, hence on site units just like old nvq but bit different
i suspect the diploma l3 will be very different though

Thank you for the replies. So far the colleges are yet to reply to my emails confirming that they will be running 6189 in September so fingers crossed.

so if i am reading this right i will be able to do the diploma insted of the nvq once i have finished the tec cert but i will have to do some extra units / mods.

you will have to do all the on site stuff obviously but you may also have to do a bridging unit

Sorry to drag this on longer but as a total noob does this really have any dramatic change? I presume I'd still be required to find an apprenticeship for 4 days a week and spend 1 day at college. This diploma is effectively either simply replacing the tech certs or combining the NVQ and tech certs into one package?

I just don't want to look like an idiot when sending out my letters to every plumber in a 50 mile radius asking for an apprenticeship in an NVQ that doesn't exist. It is still NVQ right?! lol

same as but also want too know as the mrs and me are thinking of moving to canada in a few years so i am thinking is it worth doing the diploma in the uk or work in the uk on my tec cert for 4/5 years then move to canada then do the Plumber Trade Certification and Plumber Red Seal Endorsement

the nvq and tec cert are combining to create a diploma, the trade have asked for the term nvq to remain so the full title is nvq diploma in plumbing and heating

yes it is a radical change, you do not get a qualification unless you are employed, no full time plumbing courses as you cannot achieve

the content has changed alot, its now plumb and heating and not plumbing

been offed a job in the uk so all good on that front if i do do it in the uk but not to sure if it is worth it i will have to find out what the nvq / diploma who mean over there if i just swap it for there version or have to do redo it over there as if that is the case may not do it in the uk and save the cash to do it over there
