I have just had installed a new tap( Franke Armaturen BAT 750 with a pull out hose) as part of my new kitchen. Since its installation the initial flow of the water tastes dreadful.Like a plastic taste. The flexible hose is metal. The taste goes if i run the tap for 10 seconds. All other taps in the house are fine so its not the water supply and a connection just before the kitchen sink to the outside is also fine which isolates it to the tap/hose. Water in the hose is being tainted i feel. The uk Supplier says to just run the tap for a while. To me that is unacceptable. Either everyone with a flexible hose has this problem and it is well known issue with no solution or something is wrong with the kit i was given

I really would appreciate if any of you experts out there could give me some advice on how to reply to my kitchen supplier

many thanks from a frustrated husband who clearly cannot make a decent cup of tea for his wife!

there will probably be a rubber or flexible plastic hose inside the metal hose which is affecting the water which is sitting in the hose while the tap is off.

Many thanks for your prompt reply. Not sure if replacing the hose with another one of the same type will work or whether a different hose type would fit the tap connection.

i would insist on the supplier at least or possibly the manufacturer attend your home to witness this for themselves and change the tap for another one at their expense.
