no domestic hot water

Hello
We have a heatrae sadia sealed hot water cylinder/(pressurised) central heating system. All was working well i.e. radiators heating and plenty of domestic hot water. However we now wish to heat water only but cannot without heating radiators too.
The central heating programmer/time clock does have the facility for hot water only but for some reason the boiler will not fire to heat hot water only.
We are managing at the moment by having the heating on, but all radiators turned down manually at their valves (so we don’t cook ourselves). This is a bit frustrating when the temperature dips turning the radiators back on/off etc.

Any help greatly appreciated.

sounds like a fault,you need a plumber to visit

when you switch to hot water mode, does the radiators cool down?

It could be wired incorrectly,loose connection,valve faulty or gone to safety lock out and someone left on manual open position ect,you need a unvented reg plumber to check this out,to make sure when repaired and fault found ,the unvented cylinder is left in a safe condition 🙂
Also you need a brave plumber as looks like you have an ideal boiler on system 🙁

this looks like the type you now get in new builds, but im confused😕 as i can't see any plastic pipework😀

Thanks all, yes it is the 'type' used in new builds but there is no plastic pipework.

As I am not completely simple are there any simple tests/checks that I can carry out?

Somebody sugested it may be a faulty zone valve and that the motor may be tired, so i purchased a motor and replaced it but alas still the same, remembering the heating side works fine and heats the water, however I would like to heat the water alone as warmer weather is here, thanks for reading and once again all advice thankfully received

Hard to diagnose problem on an unvented without looking at it mate. But seriously if it is an unvented system you really should not be messing around with it!! you are looking at a high pressure system and 1 false move by u could take your cafe into space!! NO JOKE😱

Sorry! never answered your previous question(missed it in the haste).

Yes they do, as the burner extinguishes and fails to re-light!

is there upstairs and dowstairs zones? if so there is prob two room stats i would usually turn them both down and that does it for me, well that is whats in my house.

thanks, it was during the recent warm spell of weather when the ambient temperature inside and out was higher than the room stat, when we noticed we had no hot water, so switched from 'heating and water' to 'water only' and again noticed no hot water and indeed that the burner was not firing, we turned the room stat higher and radiators off via the individual valves and back to 'heating and water' we can now enjoy hot water! !
