Hello,

Our domestic hot water has stopped coming from the hw tank, it is fed from our CH boiler (luckily the standby electric immersion heater works, so no emergency). It has just stopped for no known reason. The CH works and trying to trace the problem I think it maybe comes down to the attached photo's. Unfortunately the hw tank is quite inaccessible, so it will be very hard to try and replace/bleed anything there.

As you look at the photos the LH side pipe which I just manage to reach with my fingertip is cold, but the supply (or return?) to the Danfoss valve side is v hot, and the pipe leading from underneath the (bypass valve?) fitting is also v hot.

Any advice most welcome.

Thank you photo (1).JPG photo.JPG

Could be your diverter valve for hot water stuck in the closed position. Would it be possible to post a few more images in the morning, might give us all a better understanding of your system.

Hi Bob,

Yes there is a tank in the loft that feeds the HW tank.

It is quite difficult to get access to the HW tank, can you give me an idea of what else you want photographed and i'll try my best to get them.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Just the valves and pipework around the hot water cylinder. Pretty sure I'm on the mark with valve diagnosis. Why don't you post a message on the looking for a plumber thread on this site there might be somebody near to you that can help.

I have moved the danfoss both ways from it's original midway position but that didn't seem to do anything. Also gave the "diverter valve" a couple of little taps with a hammer thinking it might help move a spring or dislodge blockage but again no return of water from LH pipe.

Cheers

Sounds like the valve could have seized in the heating only position, if your feeling confident lift off the actuator head and give the spindle a slight turn to free it up, failing that like I said call in a professional, good night

Bob
