Hello,

friend has a Vokera Linea 726 which occasionally makes a loud banging noise after the central heating has been on for about an hour. She just turns it off until the next day. I have not heard it myself but went round the other day and wondering whether it could be air in the system decided to bleed the rads. Before I did, checked the fill loop, which doesn't fill. The mains feed to the boiler is T'd off to an electric shower (which does work) so not sure why the fill loop doesn't.

Could the two things be related?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers

Nope, two things cant be related. As the banging is quiet clearly either air moving around the pipes and the boiler, or pipes clanging and shifting when hot.

As for the fill loop the double check valve could possibly be siezed.

Well, would say the banging is due to over heating,if happening after an hour, which the high limit thermostate should pick up,maybe gas pressures to high or thermistor out of calibration and staying on high flame slightly to long before going to low flame
Filling loop on linea on cold inlet valve, yellow lever, turn around to fill ,if not filling probably will be non return valve stuck, requires freeing as Kip says

Thanks both. I will check the fill loop and looks like a Gas Safe engineer to check out the noise inside.

Cheers.
