Hi folks, just joined. I used to work in the music industry, but quit a year and a half ago due to a variety of factors. Now wanting to get plumbing training, but being told by SNIPEF that I can't get on the appropriate college course without first having secured employment with a plumbing firm, which is proving extremely difficult to find. I'm in Scotland, by the way, and 29.

Any tips on how to proceed, feel free to PM me, they would be gratefully received!

Hi, I'm In a similar position to you, only i live 30 miles from Manchester and am about to start BCTS training in M'cr. It costs £3850 for C&G 2 another £2850 for C&G level 3, then £1850 for NVQ 2& 3 inc. ACS Gas accreditation, water regulations, Un-vented Hot water certificate & Energy efficiency certificate.
They promise full qualification within 22 months, and a gauranteed full-time job within 30 days of qualification or your £8000 back. They are opening a centre in Glasgow or Edinburgh sometime...

That's good info, thanks creative. Are you just paying that out of your own pocket? I was told by SNIPEF (which you won't encounter, being in England) that you couldn't legitimately call yourself or trade as a plumber, which is a bit of a stick in the spokes. So, as far as you are concerned, once you've completed this training, you'll be a fully trained and qualified plumber, is that correct?
