Hi There,

I am a complete novice so please forgive me if I say something stupid - this is my first post here and I am after a little help.

We have an oil fired central heating system which fires our radiators and hot water.

Last week, we stupidly ran out of oil 😡

I had more delivered and the boiler had gone into lockout - I refired it and after a couple of attempts was running fine. I was told this can happen when you run out of oil because air gets in the pipes???

Anyway - since then it has been fine during the day, but each morning it locks out and I have to manually fire it up just the once. It then goes off after a couple of hours and re-fires on it own again OK later afternoon. This applies to both hot water and the heating. It switches off again at 11pm and in the morning is on lock out (should come on at 5am).

Any ideas? Could this be the air issue still? I have had to have a new valve recently (about a month ago) but I don't understand it enough to know what this was for or how it works!

Thanks in advance
Alison

hi ,hope I can give advise which might be of help, sounds like when you ran out of fuel it has pulled either water [which does build up in a fuel tank] which should be drainded off from time to time, could be in the filter bowl on pipe line to boiler or in burner fuel pump. might be dirt rust etc reguiring cleaning out. this will cause fuel starvation from cold giving weak mixture. best of luck regards Rod / ex trouble shooter 20yrs for a british boiler manufacter.
