I have an oil boiler that seems to be working fine with regard to heating but in the last few days the hot water has only been lukewarm

I have an immersion heater which seems to work ok so I'm guessing that its not an thermostat on the HW cylinder. I am wondering whether it might be the timer ~ the light says the HW is on but the boiler is not firing

Any help appreciated

not being rude but get an oftec engineer in.. You talk about your immersion and boiler as if they are linked which they are not so I doubt whether you have the ability to work on a boiler safetly.

Could be a number of things, stat on boiler, cylinder stat, 2 port valve, pump (if you have seperate pump for htg and hw), controller.

You really need somebody who knows what they are doing.

Id go for the cylinder stat. The boiler stat would affect the central heating which he says is fine and critically he says its luke warm which suggests it probably won't be the valves.
Take the cylinder stat off and see if the water gets hotter.
