Hi all, I'm moving into a house which has got a water heater in the kitchen and a water tank in a cupboard in the hall.It all works okay.As engineer experts do you think it is worth the expense of getting a new system installed, or shall I just wait till this one eventually expires?I mean, will I see any benefits with a new combi boiler?, also is it true the only ones fitted now are the more expensive condensing ones? Sorry
these are such ignorant questions.

Yeh has to be condensing. You will notice a big difference as gas is far cheaper than electric.

Take it there is no heating system in the house ? if not and you can afford it , get the system done B4 you move in, and fit carpets ect.

dont assume a combi will fulfill your needs get some quote as to what you need from a few companies

Ain't that the truth. Went yesterday afternoon to look at two boiler installs. Both wanting external combi's. Second customer, yes external combi will do the business. First customer 3 bathrooms, about twenty rads, used to be two houses knocked together. So it's an external system boiler and unvented cylinder.

Thanks for the information, guys! Something I just thought of is I'll need a flue poking through the roof above it (it's a bungalow). Is sorting out the tiles something a plumber would do, or would I need a builder?

Should the flue have to exit the roof (there's a good chance it wont have to) then the plumber should be able to make good. How many bedrooms/bathooms/people, as mentioned don't assume a combi will be the best choice for you needs.
